Little Man Baby Shower Invites

Making invitations might be one of my favorite parts about throwing a party. Seriously. I know I might be the lamest person ever. I actually get excited knowing people will get "fun mail" that day instead of the usual bills/coupons/junk mail.

When I found out I was going to be throwing a "Little Man" baby shower, I couldn't help but get started on the invites. Keep in mind that I won't be sending these invitations out until October 1st, so the photos from the baby shower are going to be further down the road haha. I figured I would get them all ready minus the postage so they are ready to go. (I have a feeling this fall is going to be really busy with getting our baby's nursery done & actually having this little guy!!!!)

Here is the finished product:

They were actually really easy to make. I wrote up the invite on a word document making sure that the wording was centered using only 4inches <--THIS IS IMPORTANT! You need equal lengths on either side of the wording to fold the outer "shirt" fronts in.  Then printed them out on white card stock landscape style.
Once they were printed out, I stamped a mustache on the top.

I created a tie outline out of card stock, traced & cut out 7 ties out of scrapbook paper. Secure them onto a regular sheet of paper & make copies on a color printer using card stock.

Layer a thin layer of glue from the fold down to the bottom of the invite on one side & place the tie on. (I held them together with clothes pins while they dried b/c I hate getting glue on my hands. It also prevents sticking to the inside of the invite.)

These are larger invites, and I wanted to keep a little man feel to the packaging so I used 6inch X 9inch heavyweight brown envelopes. I made a quick template of a gift tag & traced onto each envelope to address them in style!

All in all I think they turned out pretty cute.....and so much cheaper & more personal than ordering them online. Give it a shot girls/guys! I would love to see how yours turned out!

XOXO,
Sara

It has been forever and 2 days.

I came up with a list of 5 excuses why I haven't blogged since October....
  1. 1. I am got married in February, went on a beautiful honeymoon, and we are pregnant with our 1st baby.
  2.  I have also become a NYS certified daycare provider.
  3. We turned our office into a playroom, garage room into an entryway, and attic into a nursery.
  4. I got completely consumed with binge-watching all the seasons of Mad Men.
  5. I am so in love with my life lately, I just lost track of time. Seriously- I am a lucky girl.

Okay, #4 is a cop-out, but if you haven't seen any of the Mad Men seasons, I highly recommend changing that. Right NOW! Honestly, they are probably ALL cop-outs, but it's the truth. This has been the busiest year of my life!

I will be getting back into the swing of things soon & picking up where the blogging left off, however there will be a twist in the posts. I have come to realize that I am really lucky & have about a million reasons to celebrate every day; I need more color in my life & home decor; as long as I am moving forward everyday, I am headed in the right direction!

Looking forward to getting back on track!

Throw-Together Thursday: Creamy Tomato & Mushroom Soup!!!!

There is nothing better than Grilled Cheese & Tomato soup on a cold rainy day!
Love me some Dr. Seuss!

In college my mom used to bring Campell's soup-to-go (or whatever that was called) & string cheese to my dorm and call it college style grilled cheese and tomato soup. Haha. Not even close, but it was a super cute thought.  This recipe is def not your college dorm tomato soup!

Creamy Tomato & Mushroom Soup
What you'll need:

  • 6-8 Tomatoes
  • 1 Package of Mushrooms
  • Can of Cream of Mushroom Soup
  • 1 Onion, Diced
  • 3 Tbsp. Butter
  • 2/3 C. Milk
  • 1 Tbsp. Flour
  • 1Tbsp. Olive Oil
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

Step-by-Step:

 1. Start cooking the Onions in the Olive Oil until they are translucent.

   2. Once the Onions become translucent, add the Mushrooms.

   3. Begin with 3 Tbsp. of Butter and the 1Tbsp of Flour. Cook this together until it thickens. Once this is well mixed and beginning to thicken, add the Milk, Cream of Mushroom Soup & 1 can of water.
  4. Cut your Tomatoes into chunks and throw in the blender with 1 Tbsp of Milk.
  5. Blend the tomatoes until they become a liquid.
  6. Mix in Tomatoes & the Mushrooms and Onions into the soup mixture.
7. Simmer for about 30-45 Minutes. Then ENJOY with some Grilled Cheese! While snuggled on the couch watching one of your favorite flicks! Happy rainy Fall day, friends!!!!!!!

May I suggest one of my personal favorite movies:
 Factory Girl
If you haven't seen it, it is definitely worth watching at least once!

Who, What, When Wednesday: Baby (GIRL) Shower!

So you may remember a preview of the babyshower invitation I posted last month.... the shower was this past weekend!

We had the shower on a Friday evening at 7PM. The food was desserts. Some of Mandy's best friends brought desserts to share, and I provided some as well. The table was mostly pink and looked fab! I especially loved the tutu cake plate with pink wafer cookies! The pictures were rather dark as my iPhone is having camera issues (ugh!).

People typically either love or hate games! I tried to make them more interactive, and I think the ladies enjoyed it! We played "Make a Baby!". I gave each guest a meatball size amount of playdough. I gave them 5 minutes to make their baby! After 5 minutes, Momma got to choose her baby! Winner got a prize!

The drinks were White & Red Wine, Pink Lemonade, Water, & Punch (I didn't even spike it!). The punch was adorable. 1 prepared pink lemonade  concentrate, 1/2 gallon of raspberry sherbert, and 2L of Sprite! It looked cute! We floated rubber ducks in it.

The favors were Pink Bubble Gum covered in  the same paper as the invites. I put them on the frog prince plate! They were cute!

The diaper cake was small and girly! I can't imagine taking all the rubber bands off the diapers.... I didn't want to do that to Momma. Small & Sweet diaper cake!

2. Microwave the bag of Frozen Peas as directed on bag.

3. Drain your cooked Bow-ties.

4. In a large bowl, mix together the Olive Oil, Tuna & Black Pepper.
